Discussion Questions

  1. Based upon the information available in the case, make a list of the Banks family's priorities.
     
  2. What do you think are the Banks family's strengths and resources? Make a list.
     
  3. Do you approve of the way Rick has handled the situation so far? What specifically has he said or done that you admire? Is there anything that you would have handled differently?
     
  4. What, if anything, needs to be resolved or changed to improve the situation as it stands at the close of the story?
     
  5. What factors may have contributed to the situation the characters now face?
     
  6. Make a list of the options or strategies that Rick might use in addressing the issues you identified for Question #4. What are the possible consequences, including both positive and negative aspects, for choosing each of the options you identified? Which option or strategy would you choose and why?
     
  7. Based upon the option you chose, is there anything that Rick should do or say before he leaves Margaret Banks's house?
     
  8. What should Rick's course of action be over the next few days, weeks, or months?
